Tips Students Can Follow to Make 2018 Your Best Year #Inspiration #GoEDUKAN #CollegeLife

2018 is a new year, filled with opportunities, but it depends on you to put a plan in place, milestones that you can achieve, each one pushing you forward to the next. That’s called making a plan and working your plan.

EDUKAN understands that students who come to us are looking to start their college education, or to pick up missing classes, and even coming back to school to finish their education. No matter what type of student you are, you still need to have balance in your life or you’ll end up stressed out.

Tips for Managing Your Time

  1. First and foremost, you need to take care of YOU. Take a walk outside, hang out with friends, meditate (sit in silence and free your mind), and do it unplugged (okay, you can listen to music) and be present. It doesn’t matter what the activity is, but be there without distractions from your phone.
  2. Tackle your biggest tasks in the morning. Mark Twain once said, “If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. And If it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.” Accomplishing your big goals for the day will give you the momentum you need to help you sail through the rest of the day.
  3. Find the time sucks in your day. Track what you do for a week from texting to studying. Record it in a journal or on your phone. Split how you spent your time in blocks of 30 minutes or an hour. Then ask yourself, what did you get done? Was it time wasted? Was it well spent? After a week, you will see where you can make improvements… after the shock wears off.
  4. Make a to-do list every night before you go to bed. Follow your list and tackle those tasks first.
  5. Don’t procrastinate. Nuff said.
  6. Turn off social media notifications. Do you really need to know that someone liked your Instagram post, in the middle of studying, reading, listening to your podcast, talking to your friends or family?
  7. Declutter your life. Donate what you don’t use to help someone else. Studies have shown that too much clutter in our world makes us lose focus. When we lose focus, we lose time. Start small. One drawer or shelf a day. Take those items and donate them that day. You won’t believe how freeing this exercise is!
