Stay Secure Online: Here’s How to Change Your Facebook Settings to Protect Your Privacy #IPSec #OnlineSecurity

privacy settings

With the recent privacy concerns about Facebook and what we share online, EDUKAN, wants to help you stay more secure by sharing how to get control of what you share, to whom and how to opt-out of using Facebook’s login options on other sites to keep your data safe.

Managing your profile – Targeted Ads

Some of the ads you see are because advertisers are trying to reach people based on information they’ve provided on their profiles. You can control the information you share by logging into Facebook and going to the SETTINGS page.

Once logged in, go to the ADs option on the left lower side of the page. There you can see all the info you share, adjust it and save once you have viewed and updated what you share.

Managing your profile – Logging in to other apps using Facebook

Next, you will want to review all of those APPs that you have used to log in with Facebook as your name, profile picture, cover photo, gender, networks, username, and user id are always publicly available to both people and apps. Keep in mind, Apps also have access to your friend’s list and any information you choose to make public. Learn why here on Facebook.

You can also decide to OPT-OUT of using this log in API from here by clicking the “Edit” button under “Apps, Websites and Plugins” and selecting “Disable Platform.”

Turning off the API Platform

If you don’t want to go to that extreme, you can control what is shared from the same page under “Apps Others Use” and uncheck the types of information that you don’t want others’ apps to be able to access.

Finally, we want to share the importance of protecting your passwords

Best practices encourage the use of a different password for all of your logins. Why? If one of your accounts is breached, it is possible that the hacker will try to login using the same credentials with your other online accounts. Yes, we know that can be a pain, because, who can remember them? We recommend getting a good password app to manage this like 1Password or LastPass.

Did you know that EDUKAN offers flexible schedules year-round, plus all students pay the same tuition fees and can get their Associate Degree for under $10,000?

Our tuition per hour cost is $150 for students in-state (Kansas) or out-of-state. As an example, if you take one of our online AA degree programs like our Associate of Applied Science, which has a requirement of 64 credit hours to complete the program, the tuition cost breaks down like this:

64 Credit Hours at $150 per credit hour = $9,600

EDUKAN students can take any of our online AA, AS, AAS, AGS and Certificate programs or classes year round. Getting an AA degree or certification will also help with career advancement opportunities and the flexibility to pursue a bachelor’s degree on campus or online at a four-year university.

Other benefits for EDUKAN students include embedded learning materials and e-books with select classes which can save you hundreds of dollars a semester along with including online proctoring fees in our tuition saving the average student from $200-$400 a semester.

Even if you only need a handful of classes to complete your degree, we have 14 sessions available year round, from the traditional semester-length to shorter sessions, to fit everyone’s schedule, giving you the flexibility of logging in anytime, from anywhere, to access your study materials.
