What do Renewable Energy Practitioners do?

You’ll learn about traditional and renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, green building, installation and maintenance of solar energy systems along with other topics. 

Taking the Sustainable/Renewable Energy Associate of Applied Science will prepare you for the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Entry Level Exam which is the credential most employers are seeking for this field. You’ll be learning about the latest technology in this field from our consortium partner, Colby Community College, who is one of four Regional Small Wind Test Centers in the nation. 

How will this degree help me?

If your High School is located in Kansas, you can take courses for to be a Renewable Energy Practitioner for dual credit and Senate Bill 155 will fund your tuition. Yay!

According to the U.S. Bureau for Labor Statistics (BLS) the expected growth for jobs as a Renewable Energy Practitioner from 2014 through 2024 is 24%, which is higher than the average for all occupations. Candidates across the US are earning an average $19.24 per hour or $40,020 per year as solar photovoltaic (PV) installers. 

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) installers can move into other high-paying jobs like Project Engineer, Renewable Energy, where the average salary is $62,169 per year or Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Design Engineer is $56,290 per year.
